We’re so happy to be joining in with sewists all around the world to celebrate World Craft Week this week! We couldn’t resist giving the week’s festivities a home-sewn twist… we’re launching a special challenge this week, and you’re invited to join in. It’s called My Handmade Wardrobe (can you guess what it might involve?)….
Show off your handmade threads!
We want to see what you’ve been making to wear out and about lately! From quick-sew scarves to full-blown dresses to die for, share a photo on our Facebook page and tag it #worldcraftweek and #handmadewardrobe. The challenge is open until Midnight this Sunday the 9th April – so dig out your fave DIY creations and get snapping. We’ll pick our favourite photo next Monday and send them this lovely bundle of sewing patterns worth £50 (pictured above), kindly supplied by our friends over at Backstitch. Good luck everyone!
What’s in our handmade wardrobes?
Now fair’s fair – we couldn’t ask you to show us what you’re sewing without sharing our own home-grown masterpieces. Here’s a few of our favourite makes from the Simply Sewing team…
Editor Charlie showing off her dressmaking skills!
Detail from Technical Editor Becs’s DIY skirt… love the little birdie!
And finally.. the in progress shot! Digital Editor Zoe is making our Pyjamas free cover pattern from our past issues archive… but she hasn’t finished it yet….she’s hoping it will look a bit more fitted with some straps!
And let’s not forget our main image at the top of this post – Production Editor Michelle’s dress has brightened up the office today (we love it when someone wears something me-made to work)!
Join in the fun!
Share your makes (finished or not!) with us over on our Facebook page and you could take home a free set of patterns to get stuck into this spring! #handmadewardrobe #worldcraftweek
