Enjoy a spot of selfless sewing this Spring – Alice Caroline‘s Quilt SOS campaign is back for it’s third year, and they need your stitchy skills!
They’re best known for their Liberty fabric stash to die for, but did you know that Alice Caroline run an annual charity project too? The Quilt SOS campaign is calling on sewists everywhere to help make a quilt for children who have lost their families. Join in and get quilting and you might even get to see your work on display at this summer’s Festival of Quilts…
They first launched their Quilt SOS project in 2016, working with the charity SOS Children’s Village to bring handmade quilts to those who need them most.
“Our goal is to provide quilts to children who have lost their families, living within an SOS Children’s Village,” explains Anna from Alice Caroline. “We’re calling on quilters and fellow Liberty lovers to use their sewing skills for this fantastic cause.”
Last year they gave 83 quilts to children in Vilnius, Lithuania and delivered the quilts in person.

Alice Garrett, owner of Alice Caroline, recalls, “Our trip to the SOS Children’s Village in Vilnius last year was very special. Having seen the clutter in our own children’s rooms it was quite a shock to see how sparse the bedrooms were. The beds were neatly made with brown blankets and it wasn’t hard to imagine the new quilts decorating the rooms and giving so much colour where there was none. The case manager we met said that as it was getting colder, the windows often leaked so the quilts would be good for keeping the children warm.”

This year they’ll be sending a bundle of gorgeous Liberty quilts to the children of Krasnik in Poland, where they aim to make a quilt for each of the 66 children living in the village.
Before the quilts head off to Krasnik later on in the year, a selection of the quilts will be on display at The Festival of Quilts. So if you love to quilt you’ll see the wonderful display before they head off to their deserving new homes.
