Simply Sewing issue 13

We’re on a mission to make 2016 a can-do (or can-sew!) year. We’ve filled Simply Sewing issue 13 with work-to-weekend garments, projects for the little ones and stylish workspace accessories to keep you feeling inspired (and your desk tidy!).

Office accessories

Our latest issue is about romance and family too, as we chat with some talented creative couples who manage to love, live and work together. And don’t miss our adorable plushie robots and sweet seed stitch heart badges – sure to get you into the Valentine’s Day spirit.

Looking for a quick fix? Our brand new Mend It section will take you through the essential steps of repairing or customising items to reinvent them as wardrobe favourites. This issue, discover how to shorten your jeans and keep the existing hem – clever, huh?

Hungry for a speedy project? Try our hanging heart garland – perfect for using up fabric scraps – and embellish a plain top with cross stitch blooms with Portia Lawrie’s contemporary design. Simply Sewing Issue 13Find out how Wild Things designer Kirsty Hartley keeps her imagination whirring (did you join her Simply Sewing sew along?), and get to grips with servicing your sewing machine. Ooh, and don’t miss the final part of our #CharlieDress sew along with the By Hand London ladies.

We’re also excited to introduce our latest dress pattern free with issue 13, in collaboration with one of our favourite sewing shops, Sew Crafty. This simple staple shift dress pattern is perfect for beginner sewists, and has an optional waist tie and pockets so you can style it your way. And it’s for UK sizes 6-28, too!

We’ll be quizzing the designer, Sammy, on the inspiration behind the dress on the blog soon. In the meantime, share your finished dress with us using #simplysewingmag – we’d love to see how you wear yours!
