Sewing is a celebration of individuality, and that’s why we love it – whatever you’re making, it’ll be the only one like it. And, as our skills grow and our finished projects fill our homes and wardrobes, we can’t resist sharing our sewing successes with the rest of the stitching community, too. Inspiring others, and getting inspired yourself, is what it’s all about!
Simply Sewing issue 14 is packed with inspiration, as well as tips on how you can share your makes with the world and get involved in the online sewing community. Here’s a peek at what’s inside…Speaking of being sharing, our latest sew along with Tilly and the Buttons is a bow blouse that you’ll definitely want to show off! Join Tilly for part one and get the exclusive pattern with Simply Sewing issue 14.
Tilly says: “This loose-fitting blouse has a scoop neckline with a bow collar, gentle pleats at the yoke, cropped sleeves and a dropped hem with side splits. Wear it with skinny jeans at the weekend, or tucked into a pencil skirt for the office. Don’t forget to tag @tillybuttons and #simplysewingmag to show us your progress!” We can’t wait to see yours!
We’ve also treated our bedrooms to a boutique-style makeover, complete with luxurious quilted slippers and matching make-up case – find out how to make your own in issue 14. And we’re getting in the mood for spring with floral accessories to sew, including pretty shirt patches and a Peter Pan collar.
Our wardrobes have been given a refresh, too, with refashions aplenty in issue 14, including a cropped lace jumper how-to, a bow-sleeve tee refashion, a denim lunch bag and an exposed zip jumper update. Plus, get your sewing quick fix (and learn a new skill) with issue 14’s stylish leather tote bag project – make one in an afternoon!
It’s safe to say we’ve all fallen a little bit in love with this issue’s rainbow-tailed unicorn plushie toy project, and your little one will too – find out how to make your own in issue 14. Plus, make your little swashbuckler a pirate beard and moustache for their next adventure on the high seas. Ahoy, me hearties! We also caught up with Megan Nielsen to get the low-down on her new range of adorable children’s sewing patterns, and chatted to a few of our favourite sociable sewists, including Creativebug, Allison Sadler of #MakeItSewcial and Francesca Stone from We Make Collective, about the joys of meeting like-minded crafters and getting involved in the sewing community.
Also in Simply Sewing issue 14:
- Lisa Comfort shares her spring/summer sewing plans.
