We’ll also be getting our homes ready for Santa’s arrival by decking the halls with issue 23’s handmade decorations in bright jewel hues, including stash-busting gift tags, mini fabric trees, fabric-covered baubles and personalised stockings for all the family. Ho ho sew!
Of course, we’re still finding time to sew updates for our winter wardrobes in between finishing off our festive makes, including a stylish boxy jumper by Portia Lawrie (which is basically like wearing your cosiest blanket – win!), a two-in-one jersey dress made to fit like your favourite tee, and a lace collar tee refashion. Plus, we get vintage style and sewing tips to inspire your sewing from Wendy Gardiner, The McCall Pattern Company brand ambassador.
That’s not to say we won’t be stitching up treats for other members of the family too, though – Debbie from Redhound for Dogs shares her tutorial for an adorable reversible coat for your pooch, Jo Carter puts a twist on hoop art to make a 3D deer head (great for a teen’s bedroom!), and our workshop shows how to use hand appliqué to create a thoughtful gift.
Also in issue 23:
- Sew a fabric gift bag from a fat quarter.
- Finish the Sew Over It Erin Skirt with part 2 of the sew along.
- Take a peek at Anna Graham’s inspiring craft space.
- Sew vintage felt baubles.
- Make a stylish chain clutch bag.
