Introducing the first ever issue of Simply Sewing. Take a look inside…
Hello there fellow sewing fan, we’re so excited to finally reveal the cover and contents of our brand new sewing magazine, Simply Sewing. Not long now until we meet you in the flesh on 12 February. Be sure to visit your local supermarket and all good newsagents to find the first issue. Here’s what’s inside…
Let’s start with the best bit: every issue of Simply Sewing includes a free gift (print edition). In the first issue you’ll get a spotty fat quarter with four sewing tutorials for how to use it. Inspired by French style, we show you how to sew a headband, corsage and a linen drawstring bag or book cover complete with an embroidered poodle – très chic! And no, that’s not Tilly from Tilly and the Buttons donning our chic makes on the cover (uncanny!) but you will find her in the issue. Where? Oh, you’ll just have to wait and see.
In Simply Sewing issue 1 you’ll find a dress pattern by Lauren Guthrie for experienced dressmakers while sewing newbies can develop their skills by whipping up a selection of Easter makes for the home. You can also refashion a pashmina into a relaxed, easy-to-wear draped top or turn a casual t-shirt into a peplum top. Other sewing projects include bright and modern hoop art for your walls, upcycled knitwear hot water bottle cosies and easy-sew cushions.
Just starting out? We have tops tips from expect sewers for buying your first sewing machine, plus a guide to essential sewing kit.
As promised, here’s a peek inside the first issue. Even with just a handful of Simply Sewing spreads we’re sure you’ll find something to inspire you. This sampler also includes two free sewing patterns! Whip up a hair band and brooch in 8 steps or less then show us using #simplysewingmag over on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, too.
Jot it in your diary: Simply Sewing goes on sale 12 February 2015.
Can’t wait to meet you,
Simply Sewing Team
