Be the first to sew Sew Over It‘s latest pattern with our summer Sewalong! We’re thrilled to be featuring the Florence maxi dress in the latest issue of Simply Sewing magazine – in a two-part sewalong, starting in issue 30. Florence won’t officially be available from the Sew Over It collection until later this year, so to celebrate her making an early arrival in the magazine, we’re offering you the chance to win fabric when you share a photo of your dress in progress!
Florence is a maxi style dress, designed for lightweight fabrics, featuring a button-up bodice, easy-wear elastic waist and three-quarter sleeves. As part of our Sewalong, we’ll be sharing tips from the Sew Over It team, and asking you to share a photo of how you’re getting on. Show us how your version is going on social media and our favourite photo will win a £50 voucher to spend on fabric in the Sew Over It online store. That’s enough to sew a whole Florence dress!
How to enter
To be in with a chance of winning fabric of your choice from Sew Over It, all you have to do is:
- Share a photo of your Florence dress in progress on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags #sewalong and #simplysewmag.
- Work in progress! As only part 1 is out so far, your photo doesn’t need to show your finished dress. It can be of any part of the making process: from shopping for fabric to pattern-cutting or joining your first pieces.
- Closing date Share your photo before 15th June 2017.
- What next? We’ll pick a winner in the week after the closing date and send them details of how to claim their prize!
Where to get the Florence sewing pattern
Grab a copy of issue 30 in our online store to get started today. As well as the pattern for the bodice, collar and placket interfacing, we’ll talk you through taking accurate measurements, making a button placket, constructing the bodice and adding a neat collar.
Remember, this is a two part sewalong, although we’re only offering a prize for this first part. You’ll also need to buy our next issue 31 to get the second part of the pattern (for the sleeve and skirt) and instructions for finishing your dress with skirt, elastic, sleeves, hemming and buttons. Happy sewing everyone!
